Viewing and setting Good Part Yield values
To view the Good Part Yield column for a component:
-
Go to the Part Details tab, and click Table View > Select Table View > All Data

-
In the Manufacturing Info panel, expand Process Group, and scroll to the right. The Good Part Yield column is just to the right of the Labor and Overhead Rate columns.

-
Enter override values as necessary for specific processes.
-
For example, to continue the values shown in the illustration above, you could enter “98” for the Hammer process row and “99” for the Trim process row.
-
The Final Yield and Lifetime Scrap Parts columns update as you enter overrides. You should not enter Good Part Yield values in any field except a process field, even if the field is editable.

-
The Lifetime Scrap Parts column sums up scrap parts at each node, but only processes are included in the total at “Current”, not nodes. The following modified example shows which values are in the total.

- Assume that you change the Trim process to 100% GPY, but change the Band Saw process under the Saw node to 99% GPY.
- The total scrap parts in this example changes to “0” for the Trim process and “11” for the Band Saw process, which is also reflected on the Saw node row. However, only the process row “11” counts toward the Current total, not the node row “11”.
- An easy way to distinguish between node rows and process rows is that process rows always have labor and overhead rate values, while these columns are blank for node rows.

Calculations related to yield
The following are yield calculations:
-
Num. of Scrap Parts = (Output Volume /
Good Part Yield) – Output Volume -
Output Volume = Total Production Volume +
Downstream Num. of Scrap Parts -
Input Volume = Output Volume + Num. of Scrap Parts (process-level)
-
Downstream Num of Scrap Parts = Num. of Scrap Parts +
Downstream Num of Scrap Parts
This calculates the sum of all scrap downstream (to the right in the block diagram above), not including the current process. This value stores the scrap value for the next upstream process. -
Final Yield Volume / Volume + Downstream Num of Scrap Parts)
The following are calculations affected by yield:
-
Labor Cost = (Labor Rate * Labor Time) / Final Yield
-
Direct Overhead Cost = ((Labor Cost * Overhead Multiplier) +
(Overhead Rate * Cycle Time)) / Final Yield -
Expendable Tooling Cost Per Part =
(Expendable Tooling formula) / Final Yield -
Additional Direct Costs =
(Additional Direct Costs formula) / Final Yield -
Material Cost = (Rough Mass * Stock Cost Per Kg) / Final Yield
